WHAT WE DO
Breakwater House Foundation, Inc. empowers youth to become the next generation of environmental stewards by combining hands-on marine biology, environmental education, and waterway navigation with community involvement and experiential learning. Led by trained educators and marine specialists with over 50 years of combined experience, our programs not only teach science and navigation skills but also build self-confidence, teamwork, and respect for the environment. Committed to raising awareness and appreciation for local waterways, we equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to protect clean, healthy waterways and sustainable, resilient communities.
Project Break Water ....
Through our experiential “floating classroom” model, students step out of the traditional classroom and into Miami’s waterways, where they explore marine biology, conduct water quality testing, learn navigation skills, and participate in community-driven environmental projects.
Our programs—delivered by certified educators and marine experts with more than 50 years of combined experience—combine experiential marine biology, environmental stewardship, and hands-on maritime training. The result is a powerful blend of science, skills, and civic responsibility that equips youth to thrive while contributing to sustainable communities.
